DIVISION 1 GAMES

Both these sides are in what you might call transitional periods - but both IQ and TH have plenty to play for, with relegation the watch word - particularly for the home side. Therefore, it was no surprise to see that this game was a cagey affair - with the Heat going for a ZD tactic to try and shut down the more adventurous hosts. And Mark's plan worked a treat as despite the Quartiles having the better of the match, they could only fathom one chance, which Convey blew. 0-0. Not great for either manager, but TH's supporters will be the pleased ones.

Noshaki are in all kinds of difficulty at the bottom of the table. However, Mike is known for his Houdini acts, and it was time for the big man to get out his magic act again - and how - as WC98 took on Inferno. And boy, did the act pay off trumps. NW's CP tactic blew a whole in their opponent's ONE based side to such an extent that the result was never in question. Ardiles blew back the cob-webs to score 3 goals, showing what a good player the little Argey is. NW close in on Lisbon, while FI fall behind in the race for 2 nd spot in the league.

Friends can be your worst enemy. So when I found out late last week that Martin had rested up against CA, I was, how do you say it � eerm � pleased for the lad * cough*. Mind you, AP has been getting a little tired lately, and even their top side would have had difficultly in stopping a Catbel outfit that have been less influenced by ageing than many SAEFL followers would have expected. No magnificent performances from the away players - but the whole is more important than the individual parts, and 132 EMP says it all. AP have had a good run of late, but this was one step too far (nice captain by the way Mart :))

With IQ drawing, the battle really switched to the nether regions of Division 1 as OC (in the danger area) faced AA (who somehow are not). OC went with their usual CP tactic, which meant it was somewhat risky for Nathan to try out his WP team (still a useful bunch). However, AA's team, with Altercapio in prime form, just had that little too much for the home team, and romped home due to goals from Essien and 5 from 5 from Addog (nice). The win means AA are still only 2 points away from CA.

The Jazz Greats have come on in leaps and bounds over the last few weeks, and if they keep this kind of form up, the side must be considered dark horses for at least 2 nd spot, if not the championship. LU, meanwhile, are struggling, and the 11 on the pitch were simply no match for Bart's first choice men, whose WP team took Okashi and co. to the cleaners. In fact, 115 EMP against an OFF tactic just shows how strong the Greats have become. JG keep up the pressure on CA and AA. LU really need to perform from here on in. Luckily for the side, the gap to safety is still not huge.

TB are another side that have 2nd place in their sights, and this week Jer and his squad took on the Warren bunnies, who needed some sort of result, after IQ's draw, to ensure they did not fall into the relegation zone. Sadly for their supporters, their performance was just not good enough to quell a Booies side that are hitting their stride - and in a big way. A 140% EMP to NSL ratio is always impressive, and the ZD tactics that Jer decided on (maybe he's not over-concentrating on DESL after all :)) worked a treat. 2-0 the final score, which leaves Excel in the bottom 3 on goal difference.
