DIVISION 3 GAMES

Smoking Guns have won some points, finally, since Monty came back to SAEFL and took over SG. However, you can't blame Monty that SG is not on the level yet, that a team needs to be when they want to win points at a more regular basis. This match was a good proof of that. Aros VSK, who are still in the race for the playoffs, were simply a lot better. Christer didn't even have to play a boost to get a lot more EMP, and that was enough for a 8-0 victory. AV remain very much in the race for the playoffs, while SG will probably have to wait until next season for that. But don't worry. Monty will get them there.

Deo Volente against Fanatics United is a top match in div 3, as we are talking about the number 4 against the number 2. The difference between them is already 11 points though, so even if DV would win this one, I wonder if that would be enough to bring them back in the race for the nr. 2 position. However, if DV would win, it would probably mean that FU would be out of the race for the title, and DT could call them self the new champions. (Well, not officially, but still....). Which is exactly the reason why this match, and to win it, was very important for Brian. Important enough to play a boost. But that boost was not strong enough to play the boost that Otto played. Especially because also CM Un couldn't keep his nerve, and was sent off, although that was only in the 90th minute, so it wasn't an excuse for difference in EMP. DV was just a lot better, and the 30-10 victory was deserved. So, with this loss, I guess FU is out of the race for the title, unless DT lose their match. The 3 points for DV are welcome, as the fight for the playoffs is very close, and of course DV wouldn't want to miss on that.

In a match where the number 3 of the table plays at home against the number 11, you'd expect an easy win. Especially when you look closer and see that Nik didn't play a boost or grudge. And well, to be honest, Clive and his Fantastic Eleven were a lot better. The difference between FE and the Falcons was big enough (almost 12 EMP) for a FE victory. However, this match turned out difference. The FA goalie was so much better than the FE goalie (although the difference in NSL was only 0.25), that D. Dunkin became the hero of the day, winning 3 points for FA. Sure, it's a bit of a surprise, but Nik won't care, as he wins his 5th match of the season. We already saw FU lose their match, and now also FE lose their match, so if DT manage to win their game, they are the big winner this week!

Vitesse Arnhem was like a sleeping giant this season. You didn't see or hear much from them in the beginning, until Wouter managed to make the EB deadline one day. From that moment, they started winning points, and all of a sudden, we saw VA on 6th position, meaning: on a playoff spot! This week they play at home against Blue Storm FC, the number 9 on the table. The difference between them is 8 points, so when it comes to those playoffs, Wouter doesn't have to be afraid of Bryan and his team. At least not yet. But of course, there are other teams that are more of a threat, so 3 points in a home game against the nr. would come in very handy for VA. However, I don't know if Wouter maybe underestimated BS, or that he really had to rest players, as VA wasn't strong enough for a victory. The difference between VA and BS was just enough for 1 smother shot, and since Johansan easily saved that, the result in the end was 0-0, and that was fair. Another point for BS, and VA might drop to 7th place, if TS win their game.

Well, one of the most interesting matches this week was Defrosted Tunafish against Trav Spoodle. We already saw that, after losses for the nrs 2 and 3 this week, a victory for DT would mean that they could start drinking champaign, because I don't see FU catch up 8 points in 6 matches. That would not only mean that DT has to lose 3 out of 6 matches, but also that FU has to win all the remaining games. On the other side, TS have been in the top positions almost all season, but have started dropping places some weeks ago, and now, all of a sudden, they are at 7th position, which is even not good enough for the playoffs anymore. Of course, Travis would like to do something about that, and a victory against DT would be a smashing way of doing something about that. Travis even played a grudge, hoping to surprise Claudio. But Claudio didn't take any chances, played a boost because he knew TS can be very strong. That would have made both teams about equally strong. And given the fact that DT had a NSL 9 GK, against a NSL 10 GK for TS, I think the chances on a TS victory would have been bigger. But that would have been the case if both teams would have ended the match with 11 players. Poor Travis. If P.v.d Heyden only would have controlled himself, TS would have had 11.43 EMP more (or something like that). Now however, DT was much better, and that resulted in a 21-16 victory. Congratulations Claudio! I wouldn't know who would stop you from winning the title. And Travis: I hope you have more luck in the remaining matches, as TS would do good in the playoffs.
