SAEFL ALL STAR TEAM – AMAZING VOTE SEES TIED RESULT!

Despite the number of quality fullbacks on display in SAEFL over the years, from Cafu to Donaldson, Campbell to Maldini, Noah to Knasher, the result was always going to boil down to two men – Berlinnin and Simpson.

One has the games – over 150.  The other has awards galore – winning 3 player of the season awards!

Both won titles at their respective clubs.  So, could the manager split them?

It seems not!  Amazingly, after two weeks of voting, the SAEFL gaffers have voted both into the hall of fame!

At one point, I thought Simpson had pipped Berlinnin (hurrah ;)), but I had forgotten the Commy’s vote!  When all the numbers were totted up, both players had 42 points – 5 firsts, 5 second and 2 third placed votes.

In third place came Campbell – just pipping Knasher and Donaldson to glory.

So, what does this mean?  Well it means both Simpson and Berlinnin enter the all star squad with Mill, McGoo and Mills.

Well let’s be honest, it would have been a travesty if one or the other had not made it …

AS NOMINATIONS WANTED FOR ALL STAR TEAM

After a titanic battle for FB, it’s time to look at AS.  It’s been a very busy few weeks for me (plus the technical SAEFL glitches last week) ((plus the World Cup J)), hence the slowness in getting you the FB results and the AS nominations.

I’ll be working on AS this week, but if managers could give me players, total games (AMP), total reds (T Red), yellows (T yellow), goals (AGS) and international games (INT G), that would be helpful!

Players with over 60 games will have a shot at making the final list.

As there is not a SINGLE(!!) AS in Peter’s Hall of Fame, this could be a labour intensive task J

Has the World Cup influenced the SAEFL referees?  Only 1 red card this week in Div 1, but there were 9 yellow cards, so maybe not.  I humbly claim the benefit of the sole red card.  I agree that it would probably have been drawn without the card.

What a game!  Only 2 shots, both by the same player.  And both going into the net!  A 100% strike rate!  Maybe we shold apologize to GK Coutinho?  He apparently broke a fingernail or something after watching both goals go in, despite being the better keeper.  So he wimped out and left the game.  Not much else to say about the game....

The Boelwieten In Sight

Last few weeks were killing for the Dutch in the game called football. When they dont fight a war against the Portugese they kill

each other, and thats what happend in SAEFL. Well, some say thats what happend, I say we, and I mean TB as we, have to go for the last

chance we have this season.

In a awaygame we won from AA, in a awaygame we won from CA and this week, again in a awaygame we must win from

JG, and they are fourth on the table at this moment.

We on from nr 1 and 2, and are still in the race for winning season 11!

So sorry for CA, sorry for the respected manager Kroon, but this manager had to play his very best team, and we will do that the rest of the season.

Looking at the fixture AA must be happy they will encounter JG in the cupweek. And that will also be the week that is deciding in this season.

or is there still a little monkey in a sleeve, coming out in the last week, visualized by the teams fightng against relegation and using their last

grudges, killing reputations and illusions?

Dont talk about cards, i had enough ;-)

DIVISION 2

Adirondak Renegades

Adirondak Press (AP): An important win for AR this week.

Manager Fulmer (MF): Definitely. We beat a very tough TJ side and moved back into the last playoff spot, although we are only one point ahead os DS.

AP: There were some strong performances for AR this week.

MF: What excited me was the strong performances by our youngsters. 22 WH Ittemik and 23 yo AM GoodmanJr both had hattricks, Ittemik fininsing all 3 of his chances and GoodmanJr finishing 3 of 5. In fact, they did much better finishing that our "old" guys, 25 yo AM Mitreski, 25 yo AM ShivuteJr, and 24 yo WH Hell, who combined had no goals on 14 chances.

AP: Any line-up changes, such as resting people for the playoffs?

MF: Definitely not. While our next 3 matches are against the bottom 3 teams in the table, all 3 are hungry to avoid relegation and very capable of winning a match. MF H Ellraiser will get a break this week, with CM H VanderWesthuizen taking his place. Other than that, the top 11 will be out there.

AP: Last week there were 14 trades in SAEFL and AR was involved in none of them. Amazing! Will there be any last minute moves to strengther AR for the playoff drive and the playoffs?

MF: I don't anticipate any trades to help with the playoffs. The only position I would like to strengthen would be GK. Our young GKs, 21 yo nsl 9.0 W Evans and 23 yo nsl 9.0 G Jardim are not quite where we would like them to be for the playoffs, but I think our future is in very strong hands with those two. I will certainly entertain anyone that wants to offer a GK, but I do not want to do anything that will jepordize our future.

Well, last week we won, even though maybe not in the best of circumstances.  We had better NSL and EMP so I guess that it is not that big of a surprise.  Now we are in fourth place in Division Two- not a bad spot to be in at all especially considering before mid season aging we were not even in the playoff zone.  I don't even think that our team is that much better than the beginning of the season but we seem to be winning.  Of course we are not complaining about that.  We also are not far away from the teams ahead of us so there is a chance that we could move up even further in the standings before the end of the regular season.  To assure us the win this week (hopefully) we are playing a boost so we should win.

Stannington Historical

SH faces PN and their illustrious striker , Nol ,in this week's match.

What are we going to do against him, the question is asked? There really isn't much that we can do. SH's lineup is banged up and rather tired right now. Therefore we don't have the horses to carry out what should be done. Why do I feel like SH is being put into the Lion's den this week? Anyways, we figured that it may take a season in D-3 to bring our lineup to realize it's true potential and it looks that way now.

SH was very busy in the trade market over the last couple of weeks.

We  have added greatly to many areas of our lineup. The prize gem in our dealings was getting Jayden for our upfront attack. With our young aggressive team, Jayden is going to fit right in. The sleeper in our deals is DeBoer, a young S , who is on the way up in terms of NSL.

Paired with Jayden and our young set of CF's(who form the bulk of our Kiddie Corp), it is going to be a good next season.

The Jazz

TJ played AR this week away from home and the TJ losted to a AR side fighting for a play off spot, TJ just did not show enougth fight in a game they wanted to win . This week they face another tough away game at ES who will be fighting for a outside chance of the play off and also to stay out of the religation zone.

Greetings all. This week sees Wayne United up against the top-of-the-log Defrosted TunaFish. The player are hopeful for a good game. Coach Banfield is hopefull that his team will be able to pull out all the stops. See you in the stands!

Defrosted TunaFish

Enjoy the game last week?

DT : Ye, we did - winning is always a good thing - im sure the players had fun, luck we did play that grudge seeing as we didn’t win by much

Press : ended up that DV did not grudge u? Little surprised there?

DT : yeah, we thought they would grudge us - but we don’t regret not using the card, gave us the upper hand against the,, as we mentioned in last weeks press - we had a 0 morale so we need more than a home advantage

Press : see u have made some transfers lately? Are u planning on using them for ur game against BS and how do you fair up against them?

DT : ye, made a few transfers and we will be using them all for the next game - would like to see how they perform for DT, we have a good feeling that they will be a great influence in our side - we have made a few changes as well, deciding to give our top goal scorer a rest. As for BS, they look like a promising side, and it will be a great game to watch from both sides - we do have Home advantage and a morale advantage - so, from our side we are looking confident but, BS could have a great game and put us on the back foot

Press : looking forward to seeing ur new players in action - good luck to both teams and lets look forward to a great game

DT : oh and one more thing… VIVA ITALY :) good luck to them against Aus!!

Press : :)

Last week was a great result for us even though the press seemed to think we didn't play well. The 11 - 3 score line speaks for itself and we at last find ourselves temporarily out of the red. Playing away against a stronger DV this week there is little chance of us staying out of the red.

However worst case scenario we'd be one point adrift of BS.

It is time to rest some players. DV will more than likely play CP to counter my WH so I'll try MM with a B-side and see what happens.

Fanatics United

La de Daa, all I have to do is put up half decent roster and I’m second not much more to play for... So I'm letting sort of a B side take the field today, give everyone a chance, next week you might even see some 5.00 player on the field...
