PRESS REPORT
DIVISION 1

AA HAVE A LATE NEW YEARS SALE AS STARS CONTINUE TO DEPART
After the shock departure of star CM Wictoria last week, AA fans could perhaps expect a quieter week on the transfer front for their team.
No fear. Boss Clue continues to re-mould his squad at an alarming pace, with 5 deals being confirmed that sees a shipping out of the old, and a bringing in of the old and new.
On the 'exit here' sign, WH 10 27 Hitzelsperger, GK 10 32 L. Yashin, W G. Flyer 9 22 (only purchased this week), CB 8.5 24 E. Davids, DS 22 10 Brant, CB 29 9 Titzlinger, DM 9 24 Yakubu and S 20 9 Owusu all depart. That's 75 NSL of player being moved out.
In come GK 22 8.5 L. deCarpolini,
DS R, Neetling 28 10.75, two young ASs - 19 4.75 R. Frank and 18 2.75 H.
That's a total loss of around 25 NSL on the trades.
So why did AA decide to do it?
"Well, some of these players were only going to be back ups and I wanted to freshen things up with some players that have upside. It's tricky when you see so many good players go through the doors though".
AA fans will find it particularly gauling that young striker Owusu has been shown the door. A player that could have lit up matches all over the world will now do so for another team.
Still, Clue has not finished trading yet. "I have another two trades on the go, and if they come off, more big names may be leaving."
Ouch ... did we say relegation last week. We mean it!

The Selects
open at home to a speedy PN side who likes to play a lot of Wing Play. The
Selects and their new defensive look were able to keep the visitors off of the
scoreboard. Unfotunately, both keepers managed a
clean sheet. The fans didn't go away sad, but at the same time they didn't go
away happy either.
The Selects
have a couple of young CF's that we are willing to trade for some young S if
anyone is interested, please let me know.

SH Manager Lear really didn't have much to
say after their opening defeat."We are not expecting
much from our Kiddie Corp so we didn't get a lot from
them in our opening match. The lads managed to score some goals and that is
about it. This match showed the weaknesses in our lineup and this is something
we will strive to work on during the first half of the season.
Then I hope that we will get a favourable aging at
the halfway mark of this season."
SH is remaining true to their word. We have
turned down several trade offers from the vultures and sharks in the SAEFL who
want to try and steal our prized younger players from us. It is like I said in
last week's press, SH is making few trades this season because we prefer to
develop our own players. Also we are going to be very particular as to who we
deal with.
SH has the
following two players up for deal however. CM B. Barrel
26 yo - 10.00 & S J. VanOldebarnevelt
26 yo. - 8.00. I am looking for young
CB's, S's, AS's, or W's.
The Jazz
TJ came back form they away game at
Someplace Old home of Stannington Historical with 3
points and a good all round team perfromance. No rest, this week as they go straight back
into training for the mid week cup game.
This game
TJ face VA from div 3 in the group stages of the cup, T J will be giving debuts
to new signing J.
Allencar and youth players R Runner and P Pluto. It
will be a hard game as VA will be looking for they first win of the season
after a lost in they opening league game. Hot on the heals of the cup game TJ face ES in they first home
league game of the season.
DIVISION 3
After the
away win in the league last week,
"I am
happy with the lads to get the win. The only Div 3 team to win away in the first week. The lads played slightly more attacking
football and though their was only 2 chances on goal
for the whole game, our attacking options should have let us have more shots. Our final pass to the strikers though let us
down. As for the penalty, that was not a
problem. The scouts had been watching SG's goalie in the preseason and we knew that he tended to
favour and dive to his right on 80% of all penalties. No problems gently tapping towards his left
then which favours my right foot anyway."
What about
midweek against LU then David?
"This
will be a tough game for us. They are in
Div 1 so I am not expecting a win here to be honest. As long as the lads give their all then I
will be okay with the result. Should we
win though, then that would be even better and I may give the lads a couple of
days off training after the league game."

So here we are at the cup. What changes can a third division team have in the cup?
Probarbly none but we will give it a shot and see what happens. AV start off against TB from division 1. Hopefully we can catch TB sleeping in this first round.

First Cup Game… and I gotta

Deo Volente
DV is taking it easy this CUP match against
TH. Even the 5% morale boost and our best line up will not be good enough
to break down Mark’s TH…this year. So I’m just going to let the CUP pass and
focus on the leaque.
Falcons
Having been on the wrong
end of a severe beating by Travis Spooner the Falcons look to this week’s cup
game to hopefully restore some lost dignity.
There have been several changes to the line up brought about by last weeks
below par performance.

The new manager of SG(Iman)'s campaign got off to a
disappointing start as SG was downed 0-1 infront of SG's own crowd by AK. The only goal was scored from the
white spot after a foul inside of the penalty area. Both the board and fans
alike commented that all the lineup, style and tactic employed were way too
defensive. Iman when asked for comments replied that
he was offered the job within 48 hours prior to the match which did not allow
him sufficient time to get cosy with the club and the
players :-) In light of these and given that it's Iman's
very first experience in the league, the board was content with the result and
have given their full support to and were confident with Iman's
management.
