DIVISION 1 GAMES

AA are sitting mid table, not out of the race but they certainly have work to do if they want to be a contender. They seem to be in a position to focus on the cup, as they have a lead after one leg and a very strong defensive team to help hold it. NW is facing relegation, but they are within 3-4 pts of several teams with a long way to go. AA played a strong defensive side and shut down NW, whose attacking WP couldn't break down AA. AA created and finished enough chances to get a comfortable if not exciting victory.The 3 points should move them solidly into the top half of the table and there is still a long way to go. NW still has a good chance at avoiding relegation, but must start getting some results.

JG has a firm hold on second position, only 2 points from DL and the top. FI are having a typical strong season, still alive in the cup and in the top half of the Division 1 table. FI are down 2 goals to very tough cup team IQ, soo it may be time to focus more on the league. Both teams usually play very strong attacking which could lead to an exciting match, but they both went defensive and gave us a very dull match. While there were no shots in the run of play, JG did give up a penalty. Marco wiill be very dissapointed that Matador did not convert and take the 3 points. Bart breathed a sigh of relief at the miss, and ran out of town taking his one away point while resting some regulars.

Here is another match between 2 top teams, our leader DL and number 3 TB. DL had an opportunity to increase their lead on JG. They chose to rest star CF Stansfield, but still played a strong attacking WP. TB made a wise choice with OFF tactics, and managed 7 more shots than DL. Unfortunately, the weaker GK outplayed the stronger one (OK, not much weaker) and we have another draw. TB deserved better, but such is life and soccer. With all of the top 4 teams drawing, AA moves into a tie for third, although they are still 9 pts behind DL.

Guess what? Another draw.Another 0-0 one at that. This one had some excitement, although Ivo probably would have another word for it. CA created 3 scoring opportunities, but Gin, although not considered one of the top GK, was more than up to the challenge. This result probably assures CA's priority this season will be the cup, where they are 2 goals down to an impressive AR team going into the away second leg. GU will take the point, especially with the shot differential, but needs to start winning some matches to avoid relegation.

TH is in the same situation as AA, sitting in the middle of the table and ahead after one cup leg. With the top 4 teams drawing, TH has a chance to close some ground.They play a nice CP and get a decisive win for the 3 points. TH has always been a strong cup team and this season is no different, but they are high enough in the league table to keep things interesting. TJ is currently just above the relegation zone and could have used the 3 pts, but they are still not in any major trouble. At least not yet.

Our next match is between IQ, another strong cup team who is scary to play against in league matches, and AP who is in the relegation fight. This was not going to be a very memorable day for AP, at least not memorable in a positive way. They lost Striker Burnely to injury in the first minute (he must have tripped over the bench going onto the field) and W Uttemanneke to a red card in the 52 minute. IQ decided to even things out by having AM Gomex_1 sent off, but not until the 88th minute. The lost players could have hurt AP's chances as they lost by 4 goals, not an insurmountable amount had they played their starting 11 the entire mtch. AP remains in the relegation zone, while IQ moves into an even stronger mid table position from where they will probably focus on the cup.
