We had an amazing game against IQ this week in the CUP... It had been a while since I played such an interesting game! We decided we wanted to move on the cup, even if it would cost a grudge.

However, being 2 goals down it wouldn't be easy, especially because IQ had a strong defensive ZD that could not match my grudged EMP but easily could stop my attack power... the traditional 3-6-1 would only generate smoother shots. Thus, we had to play 2 Strikers with a ONE tactic, not only to enjoy the 25% bonus their ZD would give us but most important to be able to play AA! Also we dropped a stronger DS for a weaker FB, which reduced overall EMP but gave us more attacking power. With these moves, we shut their attack and got enough shots to turn the table...

Now it's time to go all defensive again against NW and, who knows, get another nice result!

Grammar United

InterQuartile Rangers

We were encouraged with a win last week.  Granted it's teams hanging out around the bottom of the table.  Admittedly we're one of those teams, but we're working on it!  We didn't have nearly as many players score, but those that did piled the goals on!  Gerrard and Hamm got 12 between them, both shooting 75% on 8 shots each.  They matched Apocalypse by themselves.

The rest is just gravy.  Well it did help our goal differential somewhat...

Adirondack Press (AP): AR at the top of the table. I do believe in miracles!

Manager Fulmer (MF). Yes indeed, the lads are definitely getting the job done. I'm sure it has been a long time since AR has been in such a position.

AP: Beating LU to get to the top position is a fantastic accomplishment!

MF: Its always great to beat such a quality opponent, especially when both teams are fighting for the top position. I am extremely pleased with the 34-15 advantage in shots. Evans has had better games in goal, but I'm sure he is saving his best for a tight match.

AP: Staying on top will be tough.

MF: You've got that right. This week we have an away match against another title contender EW. It will be very difficult, but I'm looking forward to it.

AP: In addition to moving to the top of the Division 2 table, AR made it to the Cup Quarterfinals by defeating another strong side, CA.

MF: That was surprising. I expected CA to really come after us as I think they are out of the Division 1 race and were going to focus on the cup. It will be interesting to find out why Ivo played the line-up he did.

AP: So.....is being on top of the league and in the Cup quarters too much of a good thing?

MF: Very good question. AR has a lot of depth, but I don't think we have this much.  Mid season aging is coming up and that should help a bit. I also will probably have to do some trading to get the extra depth :)

Well, last week was a bit of a disappointment.  We really should have won but we are still in fourth place so it did not totally kill us.  This is a fairly nice spot but of course the higher, the better.  This week we play EU, the last place team.  We should win but then again, that is what we said last week so you never know what can happen.  We are resting players this week because many of them are low on stamina but our NSL will not be too bad.  We should still be able pull off a win and move into a better spot before midseason aging as this is the second to last game before aging.

OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!

I can't believe that Melchester Grudged when I was playing my second team. HMMM. Bad luck. Well done Bruce!

Now the Selects enter a really tough part of the schedule as we play the top two teams three weeks in a row. Ouch.

First up is an away game against the Smoking Guns, followed up by a home and away against Len's Stannington Historical.

Anyone want to trade schedules?

We are playing one of our top line ups in an attempt to catch SG off guard. We are hoping to make a big splash here and protect our playoff spot.

Possibly our last cup game this season as we face EU at home and have to overcome a deficit and win well in order to progress. Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves and at least win the game.

Roll on aging. We have no hope against SH and will field a weakened team against them. Hopefully we will have a better 2nd half of the season.
