An unlucky sent off prevented FI from winning our last game against TH. A win would move us to 4th place, but the draw is not the end of the world.

This time we face a changing GU. Will they again abandon their famous defensive gameplay for the new attacking style the new manager is willing to implement? Let's wait and see.. we are going forward! :)

Associated Press (AP): Your running the ad for a GK coach and contracting with Mr. Lathouwers produced results. How did Mr. Ferguson's first day of training go?

Manager Fulmer (MF): He is still in intensive care but is expected to recover.

AP: Recover? From what?

MF: While Mr. Lathouwers made a statement about the AR manager being guillable, that statement obviously applies to Mr Ferguson. Bart made the comment that all the new GK coach had to do was "stand between the current manager, D F, his current goalkeepers, and the shotgun the manager is holding". Now come on, what do you think happened?

AP: So after all of the buckshot is removed and he is sufficiently healed, I assume Sir Alex is going back to Man U?

MF: Who else would take him?

AP: On to this weeks match. The two frontrunners meet, PN and AR. Obviously an important and exciting match.

MF: Both sides play attacking football (one day with Ferguson around and I am calling it football instead of soccer) and I am sure they will come at each other with all of the firepower they can muster.

AP: Anything new planned?

MF: As far as tactics go, no. This is a ONE team and we are not going to change in an important match like this. There will be 2 players making their first appearances for AR. Both are experienced veterns who were developed by top teams, and were brought in to help with AR's push for promotion. W G Kay came from Div 1 power JG, and is the best attacker ASR has had since I have been here. AS D Wilson was acquired from Div 3 frontrunner SH, and also spent a lot of time playing ONE with FI. Both players are considered to be at their peak, and with Kay being 25 and Wilson 26, it is hoped they will also be strong contributors in the future.

AP: This is another in an important series of matches. After midseason, AR's first six matches are against the top six teams in Div 2, not counting AR of course. So far you drew ES and beat DT. After league leaders PN this week, you play DS, LU and EW. Comments?

MF: Maybe I got rid of Sir Alex too soon.

great start to the mid-season with a good win - of course the boost did help! But a win is a win! So lets hope that the rest of the season goes according to plan, and that DT manages to stay in this division! Will definitly need some good trading to be done soon - as ill need some youngsters to boost up the team!

Well, we got unlucky last week- we should have won or at least tied.  We did rest a couple of players but the boost should have made up for it.  We won't blame it on the red card but that definitely impacted the outcome of the game.  Now we are tied for first place instead of being alone in first place.  Being tied is still better than nothing but the game this week will determine the top of the standings.  We are playing AR so it is the top two teams in Division Two playing each other.  We are playing a grudge and are anticipating them playing a grudge too, so the game should be close and will probably be a very good game.  It is a home match for us, which is a good thing because we will get a little help.  Other than that though, the game will be even but hopefully luck will be on our side so we can come out with a win and be able to get first place back to ourselves.

DIVISION 3

Adelaide Kickers

A good 7-2 victory last week against Aros VSK keeps the Kickers well within the playoff hunt.  Though they are still in 9th the Kickers are only 3 pts behind 5th in a tightly packed mid table tussle.  Adelaide will need to start playing more attacking and winning by quite a few goals to make up the goal difference that could very well be the deciding factor on who makes the playoffs and who misses out.

This week the Kickers travel to 4th placed Vitesse Arnhem who are only 7 pts ahead of the side from Adelaide.  VA last week were completely outplayed last week and struggled with only 76.69 EMP even though they fielded a 94.5 NSL side.

Hopefully this time next week the Kickers will be within the top 6!

Big win against VA.

Totally unexpected, however we will take it at this point in the season.

Now the table starts to get really tight!

Cheers.

We won a game we did not expect to win last week and its much the same this week as we take on FE who seem destined for promotion. Still we have won 3 games on the trot and we could be in a winning habit.

SH was very lucky to get the three points in their match last week.

Manager Lear stated,"BS put up one helluva of a fight in our match. Our lads had their hands full. However, Loothommel, who is worth what we are paying him as our backup 'keeper along with our backfield threw up the iron curtain and wouldn't let the BS attack past it."

This week sees SH do battle against a very good SS side. Lear feels this will be a tough match for his charges."SS can come at you from all angles. They are a strong group which can give opposing teams quite a struggle. It also doesn't help us going into this match having one of our star strikers on the suspension list. This may add a little pressure on Jayden. Despite all of this rhetoric, SH feels strongly that we can get the three points because we want to clinch the D-3 title as soon as we can."

SH has sold AS D. Wilson to a D-2 club. Lear commented,"Wilson was a quick tempered individual who, at times, placed his goals and objectives ahead of SH's. The coaching staff felt that he was like a cancer on the roster and we had to get rid of him before the cancer started to spread.

...and we did this!

SH would also like to take this opportunity to thank Colin and his first-class AS organization for the kind words in their press of last week about the Canada Cup. AS is a great organization which is a big plus to the entire SAEFL. Sure, SH may have beaten AS and clinched the Canada Cup this season but who knows ....it could be their turn next time around>
