League comments

Damn! I wanted to be at the cup final... :(

In the league, I would love to see DL winning the title - hehehe - but we must play our best! That's our responsibility... so, let's win this one, FI.

Bart, to which address should I send the invoice for my services? ;)

InterQuartile Rangers

What can you say about a 0-0 game?  Not much.  I'd normally say that the point was worthwhile, but NW won!!  So we even lose a couple of points in the slide towards relegation.  Since the ONE isn't doing it for us, we try something different this week.  Who knows a little surprise might just be the edge.  Considering our record against CA I doubt it, but there's always hope.

It comes down to the second to last game of the season for NW.  A critical match against the club that is 1 point ahead of them and in the clear.  A win is imperative as they head into this match.  A tense atmosphere is expected at the Mystical Arena as the NW play for everything.

The Boelewieten

I know TB lost the leauge in the first half of this season. The EFL cup, costed us to much SP and some severe injuries of key players at least four points. So, a second place this season is nice, a win over JG would be great and a good aging will be best.

I want to try winning SAEFL next season, I dont think y gys will help me ;-) and I sure hope playing Don again!

Best luck to y all, TB management.

The Jazz

The Jazz Greats

Allthough i'd like to win this match against TB the real battle will be the match against DL the week after this. That's why i will rest most of my top players. This hopefully means i'll be able to play my top 11 against DL.

Since TB will probably grudge me anyway i don't have high hopes for this match anyway.

I do have the small hope that element of surprise is on my side and that Jeroen will play the OFF tactic. I that case i might get away with a point.

Tottenford Heats

DIVISION 2

Adirondak Renegades

Adirondak Renegades (AR): Congratulations! Goal number 1 reached, which means the First Division has been reached. AR has a 5 pt lead over PN and LU, and since those 2 teams play each other, they both can't catch you.

Manager Fulmer (MF): Thanks. Our goal coming into the season was indeed for promotion. We thought we would finish second to LU , and if Nuno's luck hadn't been so terrible, we would have. That said, we certainly will do everything we can to capture a title.

AR: You look in good shape for that.

MF: Yea, but we play a solid OC side who are 1 point out of the relegation zone....and also have a shot at a playoff spot. In DESL, my BW team was crusing along undefeated in something like week 16 and Keith's BS side gave us our first loss, so Keith is dangerous in this situation.

AR: I believe the last time AR was in the first Division was Season 3. They were a new Division 2 team in Season 2, won the title, and went to the first division. Then, they went straight to Division 2, did not pass go, did not collect $200.....and have stayed there ever since. So, this is a pretty major accomplishment getting AR to Division 1.

MF: It is a major accomplishment that involved a lot of people, and shows why I enjoy this league so much. I had a lot of help, a whole lot of help, in my early days with AR. Well, we still have some good discussions and help each other out. Peter, as the commish, helped me at the beginning. Very soon, Ivo helped me a lot with team building, and wrote me many lonnnnnngggggg e-mails with some excellant ideas on match strategy and particularly on building a team. Jeroen soon helped, and set me up to calculate stats on my players. Nathan was willing to share his experience with me, which was very helpful because he has a different managing style then the others.Mark help with team building, and helped me tremendously with scouting players on other teams for trades. Bart started helping after these 34 and we still have a lot of discussions on managing both of our teams. Therefore, I would like to thank Peter, Ivo, Jeroen, Nathan, Mark, and Bart for their help getting AR to Division 1.....and also for making the game a lot of fun.

For all new or relatively new managers, there are a lot of experienced managers in this league who are more willing to help, answer questions etc. Feel free to ask them. It makes the game more fun because your team will be come stronger and more successful, and the game will be more fun because you will meet some good people. And maybe in 2010, we can all meet in person in South SAfrica for the World Cup!!!

Newton Heath

Oaklake City

Expect to see lost of subs this week and next. This team is tired, injured, and falling apart. If I can even field a team next week i'll be surprised!

Port of Napier AFC

Well, the season pretty much boils down to this week's match.  Right now, we are tied with LU for second place but since they have a better goal differential, they are in second place while we are in third place.  The grudge against us in last week's match was a big surprise and of course cost us the three points that we needed.  Which of course makes this week's match all the more exciting.  Whoever wins will pretty much get second place, and thus be promoted automatically.  Whoever loses will likely end the season in third place and have to go through the playoffs.

Obviously, we would rather be promoted automatically because our record in the playoffs leaves much to be desired so even if we get third place, there is a pretty good chance that we will stay in Division 2 next season because we will probably lose again.

We are playing a grudge this week but LU is likely to play a grudge too so they will cancel out and it should leave a pretty fair game.  We are playing our top team but LU is probably better than us.  Regardless, we still have a chance to win and so we will just have to hope that we will be lucky and can catch a break.

DIVISION 3

Adelaide Kickers

African Selection

One more win will seal the playoff spot for the Selects. We knew we would not be able to gain automatic promotion as Stannington Historical proved to be just too strong over the season.

Last weeks saw the Selects earn an away victory over the Speedsters who are also challenging for a playoff spot.

This week, the Fantastic Eleven visit Liberation Park for the final regular season fixture of the year. The Selects hope to put on such a dazzling defensive display that Robin will say 'Holy Aliteration Batman!' And then there will be the 'KER-POW!'

Aros VSK

He he he           I've got a machine gun, well a smokin one anyway!

25 shots against the team in 2nd place in the league led to 10 goals being scored by the new and improved AROS VSK.

The scottish coach must have instilled much needed  vigor into the squad, either that or he has been spikeing their tea with the

mighty orange frooty stuff!

The win doesn't do much for our league position at this stage of the season but it gives new manager Hamish Mchaggis a chanve to hone the tactics and style of the team and give us a chance to build a team for next season.
