WORLD CUP FINAL

The program of this edition’s world cup final was a copy of the Italy 1990 world cup final, in which Argentina lost to Germany by a penalty :0-1. This time, we have different players of course, and more important: different coaches. Nathan reached the final after beating Ivo and Brazil in the semi’s, with a very easy victory. Marco’s opponent in the finals was a little bit more difficult: Bart and South-Africa appeared to be a tough adversary, but Marco’s tactic skills plus –of course- the quality of the squad made the difference. Looking at the group stages, in which both teams finished first as well, I guess it’s safe to say that we have the best teams in the final. Both managers wanted to play attacking and go for it. Nathan played WP, while Marco played ONE, and that resulted in both teams fully benefiting their own strong points, without being hindered by any anti-tactics. In NSL, both teams appeared to be equally strong, but in EMP, it was Germany to have the most effective players to their tactics, and with 140 EMP against 132, most chances were created by the German team. Of course, on a World cup stage, each country is capable of fielding a NSL 10 Goalie, and this match was no exception of course. In a game as attacking as this one, of course there is more chance of a surprise, for example because one of the GK’s performs much much better than the opponent. But in this final, both Goalies had the same level of performance, and that made that Germany did not only create more chances, they also scored more goals:19-12 So, once again it proves that football is a game in which 11 players play against 11 other players, and after 90 minutes, Germany wins. Well done Marco, congratulations on your victory!
