Who knows we can
have the same luck we had in week 2 and 4, when we won through a PK? The team
is behaving well in defense and find the right counter
attack is the problem! :)

A win in the cup. Not too
shabby. Even with 2 red cards!! Did SAEFL bring in the 2006 World Cup
referees all of a sudden? Still, it
would have been nice to bring up the goal differential. I guess the next round will determine whether
we continue in the cup. Things aren't
looking good as the RNG hasn't been kind to us this season, especially in the
cup.
No league games,
so no stats.

Press (AP): A win over AA. Doesn't happen very often.
Manager
Fulmer (MF): It doesn't happen very often when Nathan cares about the result.
Obviously this season, his sights are set on the SAEFL league title. He has
enough depth to put out a competitive cup side, but I'm sure he didn't lose any
sleep over the loss.
AP: You
have 1 win and 2 losses in league play, which is your focus, and 2 wins in cup
play, where the results aren't important to you. Do you have an explanation for
this?
MF: Its just like raising kids, they like to do the opposite of
what you want just to drive you nuts. Hopefully, they will soon realize that it
is in their best interest to win some league matches.
AP: AR are sitting on top of the group with one match to play. What
do you expect from the last round of matches?
MF: It
looks like the team with the best back-up side will win. None of the 4 teams
are playing top players and trying to go through. Our final match is against
AK. David even stated in this weeks press that he is going to focus on the
league and played a line-up to support that philosophy. Of course, now that he
has a win and a chance to go through, he could change his tune for the final
match.
AP: Next
weeks league match is against DT. In this weeks press, Claudio is taking a
different approach, focusing on the cup. Do you expect an easy match as Claudio
rests players after last weeks cup match?
MF:
Absolutely not! DT has a good side. I don't see them as a title contender, but
they should be able to do well in the cup and still make a strong run at a
playoff spot. We have already lost matches to 2 weaker sides than DT, so we
have to be ready for a tough match. Plus we are playing in the Tuna Can, or
Battlefield FC, or whatever their stadium is called.
AP: You
purchased an AM, B Weston, from the Transfer List. You seem to have quite a
collection of AMs built up.
MF: We
currently have a group of 5 very strong AMs which
gives us an excellant rotation. If fact, if I manage
AR for another 20 seasons (scary thought, huh Peter?), I can't imagine having
as strong a group again. However, they are all at about their peak, and I will
have to begin replacing them soon. Newcomer B Weston, as well as L ArryFulmer who was acquired as a youth in the off season,
are both very promising and hopefully will continue an AR tradition of strong AMs. Now if we can start a similar tradition with WH and
defenders :)

Seems like
DT doing well in the cup?
DT :
yeah, seems like we have had a bit of luck, also CA not playig
their best players and team so they def gave us the win
Press :
so you are going for the cup then rather than the league, how you feel that
will turn out?
DT : well,
we don’t know, the cup will start getting hard from the second round and on
wards - and that’s if we still qualify, cause there still a chance we could get
kicked out
Press :
as for the league? How are you doing there?
DT : not
as good as we hoped, a lot of players have dropped NSL - mainly all defense players so we are in need of some youth in those
positions
Press :
well, so many more games ahead of dt in the league
its still too early to tell what kind of players your youth will turn out and
its still to early to tell how well you will do in the future - any hopes?
DT :
well, our INT players didn’t get used this week, which is a bit of luck as we
will need them to play the next few games so that saved us the SP - as for our
hopes, if we can manage to get a win in this game and keep a good morale
against FU :)
Press : well good luck then for the next game :)
DT : thx

Excelsior
From The
Excelsior Herald...
Excelsior were demolished by IQ in
the cup in an exhibition that showed just how wide the gulf has become between
where Excelsior are now and where the club and the supporters feel is their
rightful place. Long dark times ahead.
This week sees a tough away fixture at
Newton Heath. Another club who musyt
regard themselves as refugees from their homeland in Division 1. Newton
Heath have put together some impressive performances
so far this season and this game will be a good measure of the job to be done
at
Fanatics United
That was
cool, won my cup game. Sweet. EU you might be at the
bottom of the league table, but I don't think that I should be on the top, to
be real about it. I just think I have had three lucky games. But I don't might.
Lets have some fun on the field.
It`s a hard game for us this week against DV.They
EMP well and for sure they will start to get some points.
We`ll use ZD and hope to have a good EMP so we can get one chance
to score. We doubt we can have more chaces.
Well last week was a cup week and we didn't lose for a
change. It turned out to be a pretty
boring game and ended in a 0-0 draw, which is fine with us. It was actually pretty surprising that we
ended up even tying because they had a little more NSL than us and a lot more
EMP. Either way, that result does not
matter much and we are back to the league this week. We play DS, who, like us, have been in
Division 2 for a while. They are ahead
of us in the standings right now, though by only three points, but there have
only been three league games so far so that does not mean all that much. Hopefully, we will win this week, which would
move us up to at least tied for third place, which is a fairly good place for
to be in these early parts of the season.
DIVISION 3
Things are
looking up?
SB: The Kickers last week managed to get a win
against Div 2 side Englehart Storm last week in the
cup. The result sees you sitting second
in the group. Has this changed how you
will now play the final game against the top team, AR.
DT: It was a surprise actually. ES must have taken the game easier than I
thought they were going to. We are
second as you say but playing against AR will not be
easy. A few players already have freak
AM M. Swansson lined up including myself,
even though he is a good friend.
SB: This week we are back to the league with a
game against AV who are bottom. Any predictions on how much you will win by?
DT: I never predict on the final score of any
game. We are playing away which will
make things tougher but it is certainly a chance to increase goal difference.
SB: The win could of course put you into the
playoffs that must be good though.
DT: Being in contention is always good but with
only the 4th league game of the season out of 18. Being in the playoffs now doesn't really
matter. Being there securely after 16
league games is where we need to be.
SB: Thanks for you time David.
DT: No problems.
Time to start sharpening my studs for the cup match.
African Selection
Last week's
round 2 of Cup matches were very interesting in Group 5. The first round saw
both of the first division entries in the group lose to lower division
challengers. The second round saw both of the first division entries in the
group beat the lower division challengers. Now all four teams are tied with a
win and a loss each. This means we all have 3 points and only one game left.
The interesting thing is the two first division teams play each other. The
Selects are really looking forward to one of those teams being left behind.
This past
week also saw the manager of the Selects pull of some more additions to the
team. Two players were purchased from AR: CB Miles and DM Albers. Both are 26
and are looking forward to playing with the Selects. Albers sees his first
action against Vitesse Arnhem
this week. Also, Manager SAM traded star CM Holt to FI for DS Maldade and CB Kristianssen. Kristianssen also sees action this week. Maldade can not play as we are playing OFF to counter the
expected wing play from Vitesse Arnhem.
Also, we
have a young keeper that is available. He is 24 years old and has nsl of 5.25. He is available for a similiar
defender.

AV

After winning our
cup tie last week we want to continue where we left off and start making our
way into the playoff zone. New winger Palleto gives
us a couple of additional tactics we can play but we will for this game stick
to our tried and trust formula.

After an
impressive start to the campaign, SG's flag is flying
high.
Sg is
still undefeated in both league and cup games. This is a huge turn-around for
the club that ended in bottom position last term around. Could this be an
influence from the new manager that took over the reign in the final quarter of
last season.
This week
sees SG taking on FE, who are currently placed on place above SG in 2nd position..This promises to be a
cracker and I'm sure will atrract a lot of interest.
Both teams
fielded second string teams during the cup games last week, so expect them both
to try and go for wins.
SG was a
bit unfortunate to only get a draw from there cup game last week as they
created 5 chances to none against PN.
PN goalie
O. Prime was in to form making all five saves.
Speedsters
The coach has decided to put together one of his strongest sides
for this encounter after another loss. N. Heidfeld
the experienced striker comes back into the side after a small break. Despite
the setback in losses the team still remains confident that they can rise to
the occasion.
Stannington Historical
"We are not worried about our loss in the Cup
play because as previously mentioned our sole intention this season is to
hopefully win the D-3 division title. It will be a tough struggle but i think with our recent acquisitions ,
we have added some quality depth that will help carry us through the lean
times.
Our next match is a scary one against BS.
When you see that a team has scored 15 goals in a match without using a grudge
or boost you know they are into something and the team has some quality. So, SH
is approaching this match with some caution and and have
devoted much of their time in training this week to solving this BS offence. SH
manager Len Lear worriedly stated,"I hope that
we have the horses in our backfield to stop this vaunted BS attack. We
definitely have the firepower up front. BS is a side to be respected and they
definitely have the potential to cause a lot of trouble."
