DIVISION 3 GAMES

With respectively 3 and 1 points after the first 3 matches, both Speedsters and Melchester Rovers are already far behind the leaders of the table. In this match againt each other, a victory for either team would decice who would be the better team in the fight for a playoff position rather than for a promotion to div 2. The difference between SS and MR wasn’t that big. In was even less than 1 EMP, and so both teams got the same number of chances: 16. SS had a slightly better GK (10 against 9.75) and that is probably what saved them: they won with the smallest possible margin: 9-8. With this win, Shaun stays in the top half of the table, and thus in the race for the playoffs, while Bruce and MR will have to find 3 or 4 first team players to make a great first team.

SAEFL SEASON 12 WEEK 6

Trav Spoodle are the nr. 11 on the table, and this week they face a tough opponent in the Falcons, who are leading the table (togehter with SH and SG) with a 100% score after 3 matches. Not an easy job for TS. Especially when you see that Nik also played a boost, in an effort to extand that stay at the top of the table. However, TS did not give in, played a boost as well, and guess what? They turned out to be much better than FA! FA had the better NSL, but TS had the best mix of good players on good positions, and that made that they were 10 EMP better! The 19-11 victory is very much deserved, and it also shows that what the table looks like after only 3 matches doesn’t have to mean anything about how strong teams are.

SAEFL SEASON 12 WEEK 6

Christer’s Aros VK was still without points after 3 matches. Up to this week, there were 4 other teams without points. OC, EU and TJ won their first points this week, where DV still has to do without. What will AV do? Well, Christer doesn’t have to worry, as AV’s first points are here as well. In a home match against Davids Adelaide Kickers, they didn’t even have to play a boost or grudge (I really would not be surprised if any team would have thrown one in), to be much better. Out of 13 chances, AV scored 7, where AK created only 5 chances, and weren’t able to kick in any of them. The 7-0 and the 3 points make that both AV and AK have 3 points. Still in the bottom half, but also still with a chance at playing for a playoff spot.

SAEFL SEASON 12 WEEK 6

Vitesse Arnhem and the African Selection are the numbers 4 and 5 of the table, both chasing the 3 leaders. In a situation like this, a draw would be bad for both of them, only a win would keep either team in the race for the top positions. This game was not decided by the tactics that Fred and Colin chose although the WP from VA was strong, and the OFF was well anticipate. This game was also not decided by the strong teams that both Fred and Colin put on the pitch, although the 92.5 and the 95.5 were very very good, and that showed that both teams are not in the top half for nothing. This game was even not decided by the boost that Fred played, although it made VA stronger of course. No, this game was only decided by the red card for DM Albers. He got it already in the 4th minute, and that cost AS almost 11 EMP. That would have been some more than the EMP that VA produced, even with the boost, and since AS also had the better GK, you can never be sure of course, but the chances are big that AS would have won this game. I have no doubt that Colin will fine this unprofessional behavior, although giving that fine will probably not take away his frustration. Fred won’t mind though. VA stays in the race, just behind the leaders

SAEFL SEASON 12 WEEK 6

The favorite for the title is Stannington Historical. In the first 3 matches they showed some great football, and in their forth match of the season, an away game against Blue Storm FC, the number 9 on the table, they show nothing else. With 12 NSL more and 21.5 EMP more, SH dictated the match. The 18-9 victory was inevitable, and with 12 out of 4, Len and SH are leading the table. Brandon will probably not be very surprised with this result, and he will know that there are a lot of easier matches to come this season.

SAEFL SEASON 12 WEEK 6

We just saw SH win their match, which meant that 1 of the 3 leaders of the table is still without loss of points. The other 2 teams leading the table are Fantastic Eleven and Smoking Guns. We still haven’t seen either of them in action, and that is only because they play against each other in this very last match of the week, which also makes this game THE match of the week in SAEFL. Monty did not want to lose this game, and played a grudge. Clive on the other hand did the match, and figured that it might very well be that even without playing a grudge, his FE would still be the better team. And you know what? Clive (or the math he did) would have been right. Sure, Monty plays a grudge, and SG turns out to win this game, so at first sight you’d say that is what made the difference. But it wasn’t. FE were unlucky to see not 1 but 2 players leave the field with a red card, and that cost them around 16 EMP. If you add that up to this EMP, you see that FE was better than SG, and probably would have won this match, in spite of the SG grudge. However, red cards are part of the game, and that makes that FE fall behind, while SG joins SH leading the table.
