A good win in the cup and we are in the next round. Where could this run end? We never know! ;)

In the league we face the WP powerhouse DL and we'll do just like the old times (do you guys remember how powerful SM was... everyone was using it!) and call a SM. That should definitely not be enough for a win but at least we should have a closer call.

Not much to say.  The EFL games were interesting even if dominated by DESL.  In a way I'm relieved since it's one less series of games I have to worry about.

The WC games were interesting too.  NZ did well by switching tactics.  I guess that's one of the problems with the WC just showing with a bunch of new managers.  There's almost no track record to go by!  It's also a chalenge since you're given a random set of players and you can do nothing to tailor your roster.  At least the roster is LARGE so the chances of only having one possible tactic is very unlikely.

Adirondak Renegades

Adirondak Press (AP): Congratulations! You made it to the second round of the cup.

Manager Fulmer (MF): Yea, its more like AK kicked our butt into the second round.

AP: Does it bother you that David is shooting his mouth off?

MF: Not a bit. If David thinks AK is a stronger team than AR then he had better get his head out of his……hat…… and take a good look at what happens on the field. I played only one of my top 11 players, had 2 guys sent off, and he had to grudge to win. Big deal. I knocked him out of the cup last year and I am more than ready to do it again.

AP: Then, it seems like we have quite a rivalry brewing.

MF: My young players that played in the match think so. We had 2 players sent off and 2 others cautioned, and we are usually not a very physical team. All of the players involved are young, and I'm sure they will remember this match in the future.

AP: Speaking of young players, a couple of them made their first appearance with AR. What did you think of them?

MF:  I didn't get much of a look at DS M Keen. He came onto the pitch, bowed to the fans, mistook one of the AK players for manager David Thomas, and drilled him so hard Keen was sent off, plus he injured himself. Lasted all of 13 minutes.

AP: Keen has a reputation for being very physical.

MF: We knew that when we traded for him. That is probably why Nik traded such a talented player. We were looking for a strong player to help our defense next season, and we feel the 22 yo DS will be an excellent player by then. That gives us some time to figure out how to calm him down a bit.

AP: How about 21 yo AM B. Weston, just purchased from the transfer list?

MF: He had a very solid match. The heart of AR are our AMs. All of them have very good team ethics and determination, well, except Swansson, but he played for AK so what do you expect. Weston is very strong in both of these characteristics, and should help carry on the tradition, well, recent tradition, of strong AM play.

AP: For the most part, this match gave you a chance to see the young Renegades play together in a meaningful match.

MF: Good point. DS Neethling is 30, AM Mitreski 26, GK Jardim 24, and the rest are 23 or less.

AP: The future appears bright.

MF: Especially if we get to play AK a lot!

Well we lost again last week, which is no big surprise because it was a cup week and we are now officially out of the cup.  Focusing on the league still is not getting us much of anywhere though because we are currently in sixth place.  Actually we are tied for fourth, which is an okay place to be in, I guess.  This week, we are playing LU, who are currently at the top of Division Two and undefeated at that.  Which means that we will probably lose, but we are playing our top string so we will see what happens.  It should be a pretty close game but who knows.  If we win, we could actually move into second place depending on what else happens which would be good but we will just wait and see what happens.

DIVISION 3

Adelaide Kickers

SB:  Congratulations.  A nice win last weekend.

DT:  Always good to get a win against AR.  Developing into a nice rivalry now.

SB:  Yes, the team also finished top of the group.

DT:  Finishing top is good but it doesn't really mean anything.  Just good to get through to the next round.

SB:  What about AR being undermanned?

DT:  What about it?

SB:  Does it take anything away from the win?

DT:  Yes it does but a win is a win.  Kinda dissappointing that AM Mats Swansson didn't play though.

SB:  About Mats, there were reports he was forced to not play.  Can you shed any light?

DT:  Not sure it is my place to say.

SB:  Why's that?

DT:  Well he was out the night before drinking at the local bar with our team.  He got a bit innebriated and was causing a public disturbance.  The police were called and he spent the night at the police station.  He was released in the morning but I think that might have been a factor to him not playing.

SB:  So you got him drunk so he didn't have to play.

DT:  Of course not.  Our guys were all revved up to play against him.  But as it turns out with all the young guys playing for AR he probably wasn't going to be playing anyway.  Not sure if anything else will come of it but I'm sure AR manager, Don FUlmer will apply the right disciplinary measures.

SB:  Turning to this week.

DT:  Sorry Stephanie I have to go now.  I am a busy man after all. (walks out of the room)

SB:  Okay, so there we go, a lesson to be learnt by everyone especially our young readers.

OOOPS

The Selects go for the tie to ensure they finish second in their group, but they forget that they need to be in the top 7 second place finishers and 4 points doesn't cut it.

The fans who watched the game were treated to a spetacle, but for unfortunately it was all for nought.

We reach the knock out stages of the inter league cup for the first time in our short history and we end up top of our group!! This awesome achievement, considering the teams that we were grouped with, was soured only by the fact that NoShaKi WC'98 decided to have a go at our tactics and line up in the press despite them fielding a below par side. "Practice wot you preach mate!" was the comment floating around the Falcons HQ. This week sees us focus on the league and our attempt to get into the playoff stages as we do our talking on the park. We unfortunately need to rest some players and so we are going to try an ambitious tactic change so that we can field a slightly weakened side.
