PRESS REPORT
Adirondak Renegades
. Adirondak Press (AP): Did you hear from the Commish on your request for bail-out funds?
Manager
Fulmer (MF): Maybe. I didn't get any money, but AR got a gift from somewhere
against IQ last week, getting outshot by 21 and winning. Maybe it was from
Peter.
AP: That makes
2 wins in a row….and against very good teams.
MF: Yea,
the points are nice. Hopefully we will avoid relegation. But now we get to the
grudge matches (wink, wink). I haven't beaten Ivo,
not in this league. But that is about to change.
A P: Coming
to the War Dome can be tough.
MF: We hope
so.
AP: What
are your thoughts on the situation with Keith at OC?
MF:
Managers get no respect. Keith's done a great job there. OC is not going to win
during a rebuilding phase. Look at JG. Bart did a fantastic job last season
taking JG to the title, and now they are facing relegation while rebuilding.
(That sound you just heard was hell freezing over, I
just said something nice about Bart). If teams win, its
because they have great players. Anyone, even Peter B, could manage them. If
they lose, then its because the manager stinks. It
doesn't matter that OC is in a necessary rebuilding stage,
Keith will still take the blame.
AP: A
manager sticking up for another manager. No surprise there.
MF:
Managers have about as many friends as referees, so we have to stick together.
AP: It will
be interesting to see where Keith turns up, or if he stays.
MF: Indeed.

I can today confirm that recent press reports are true. AA is seeking a new manager to replace N Fossey, who will leave SAEFL this summer to seek a new challenge.
"I've had fun over many years in this league, playing against many friends. But the fire has gone out to be honest, and I need to refresh the batteries".
Fossey did not confirm whether his retirement from SAEFL is temporary, or permanent.

One more week and TB is still holding to
their 4 point lead. Changing it won't be easy, especially because they got 3
more NSL 10 players and we do not have the easiest of the games ahead. AA just
lost in the cup and now has nothing to lose. Their remaining grudge could be
played this week, making everything even harder. In the other hand, we have a nice
squad and if the referee doesn't intend to be the star of the game the plan
could work. Let's wait and see, while we still search for a TB killer. Anyone?
InterQuartile Rangers
After last week's comments this week's may seem strange, but I've lost too many games with an obviously (much) better team. I don't know who did the comments for that game, but they're wrong. Planning doesn't mean anything. Yeah, you expect to lose an occasional game. You expect to have a surprise. But this is at least the 3rd game just this season where a significant advantage meant nothing. We had nearly 20% better EMP. Our keeper had over a 10% advantage over their keeper. And we lose. I've had a couple of games over the last few years where I blew the lineup. I put in the players for one tactic, but forgot to change the designated tactic.
And we still won!! The best way to handle "planning" is to just get a random collection of players, and make a random roster. You can't do any worse than wasting time on planning.
Yeah, I'm bitter. I'm out of the cup because of not one, but two spurious results. As I said, you expect an occasional result like this. But too many make the whole thing a waste of time. When Peter moves the game to a web format I sincerely hope he has who ever is doing the work research it and put in a good RNG. The really scary thing is that he uses the built in function in Excel. And Excel is used by many for financial analysis.
I wonder if there's a connection with the downturn in the global economy?

Well we won our cup game which is good, because that is basically all we have left in this season. We won by a lot too, which was a bit of a surprise. From the beginning of this season, our team really wasn't good enough for Division 1, so we did the best we could and next season we will most likely be back in Division 2. We are resting some players this game, so we are not expecting much out of this week. If we win, that would be awesome but also a suprise, so even if we get a tie, that would be pretty good for us.
The Boelewieten

the returngame Cup
TB traded
last week. We are competing in the cup and are in a breathtaking race with FI.
And that FI team can field a team with 105.75 NSL, and that is 0,5 more than TB's max nsl.
So, Van Poppel took measures and traded AS A. Nother,
NSL 8.5 , 21 yo
CM H. Goodbey, NSL 9, 24 yo,
MF M. Go, NSL 9
, 22 yo, S S. Pider, NSL 8.75 , 22 yo and CF W.
Kieft, NSL 5.75 , 23 yo for
GK I. Akinfejev, NSL 10, 27 yo,
FB A. LuisdaSilva, NSL 10, 30yo and S A. Kick, NSL 10, 26yo. CA ripped TB? Nah, Ivo is a gentleman and would never rip his fellow Dutch
manager.
So, the new
guys are fielded this week for the returngame against
AP. First game we took 5 goals in advantage. AP is playing a powerfull WP, two freaks playing in CF position, 12 and 12,5 nsl. So, what to do?
AP played
the first cupgame this season against Deo Volente. They played longballnext
game against AROS VSK is was a strong WP tactic and a
solid base for the next round. The last game in the pool they gave the three
points to CA and saved their top players.
Till week
10 AP played all games natural, no grudges and no boost needed, nothing
spilled.
In week 11,
the cup game against Newton Heath is ws midfielder Schaars who spoilt the party. AP lost with 16-14 and they
had to repair that two weeks later in the homematch. AP was much stronger than NH,the difference was almost 20 EMP, and with that, the
13-5 victory in the end was deserved.
Again, no boost or gruge waisted!
In week 15 two AP players got a
red card but that took not much effect in AP's team for the cupmatch
against TB, they got 132 emp in an awaygame. And now they are playig
at home, off course with a filled Saturn figting for
a place in de semi.
Adding up:
4 goals behind, full stadium, very strong and eager attackingforce
playing WP, 3 grudges and four boost left and last but not least, one player
called M. Uttemanneke, an old TB player that was
named after Van Poppel;s son, a petname,
damn, tears in my eyes.
So lets see, fielding 99.5 nsl must
be enough to withstand APpower

TB reached
the semi finals in the SAEFL cup. DS, LU and PN are the three other parties.
So, lets hope for DS in the semi, and try to get in
the final without the use of a boost or grudge.
The final
is always clean, and performing with my best team in the final should be enough
to have a fair chance for the cup. As, lets stay with both footh
on the floor, first we have LU thi week, of cuorse saving their grudgs for
the semi. I will field a nsl 98 team, playin

The Selects
managed to pull off a huge result last week in keeping the Division Leaders to a
scoreless draw. Fantastic!!
This week,
we are playing the ever tricky VA and we expect them to play WP, so we will
counter with our own tricky OFF. Let's hope it works.
Also, the
Selects are back to their trading ways and like the Toronto Maple Leafs, don't seem to have any luck in the transfer market.
Aros VSK
A 6 pointer for these 2 teams to cement their playoff place.
Our superb
win and the dead scientists no score draw saw us leapfrog
them into
5th place and the 3rd playoff place and more towards the
automatic
promotion places, although they may be slighty out of
our reach.
This week
will make or break this push towards 2nd division football and
although
there are plenty more games to go, this would be a huge step for
Marc, a massive step for Aros VSK.
Blue Storm FC
The biggest game in BS short history. Getting into the semi finals will be
sensational!!

Our opponents negetive play cost us 3
points away last week and top spot. We are still in a pretty good position
though and will come up against a strong test this week.
