PRESS REPORT

Adirondak Renegades

Adirondack Press (AP); Three wins in a row! Pretty amazing. Pretty surprising.

Manager Fulmer (MF): Pretty fun. I just hope it continues.

AP: AR are actually in the top half of the table, that may never have happened before.

MF: Possibly, I'd like to make it a habit. I like that yellow background behind the team name. I would like green better, but barring an internet collapse or some real creativity on Peter's part, TB has that locked up.

AP: Will AR get the green background next season?

MF: Maybe the first week or two. There will be some very strong teams next season.

AP: Would you tell our fans what you think is in store for AR next season?

MF: Yes, I'll tell you exactly what I am thinking. I have no idea. Off season activities will be huge, as it will be for most teams. I think AR will have a pretty good team next season. With a bit of good luck off season we could be a top half team again.

AP: Title contender?

MF: I doubt it. If we are lucky and things look good going into the season, we may make some trades to try to bring in the quality to make a title run. But it will take a lot of quality to make a serious title run next season, so I guess we will have to wait and see.

The Chemical Chronicle has been speaking to Nathan Fossey a few days after his shock announcement that he plans to step down as manager of AA at the end of the season.

"It was a very difficult decision", explained Fossey, "as I've become very attached to AA and SAEFL in general.  It's been a part of my life since I was 19, so you can say I grew up with this league".

What caused Nathan to make that choice?

"It came to a stage where putting in my orders, buying players, and all the rest -  it was all becoming a bit of a chore. Peter, and all of the managers deserve more from me.  It's a privilege and an honour to challenge other great managers and their superb teams, and when it gets to that stage, it's better to make a clean break".

So, is this the end for Fossey as a club manager?

"Stake your house on it that I'll be back.  I only need time out to get me refreshed and ready for a new challenge.  I'm hoping that should the Commissioner come back to me in another year, that I'll be ready to step back into the breach with a new club".

What will become of AA, then?  Fossey admits that this is a tricky situation.

"AA are a massive part of the fabric of SAEFL.  Perhaps the most successful club of all, certainly in terms of games won and constantly being in and around the top of the league.  I am therefore keen to see the club taken on by a manager that is determined as I was to uphold that heritage and to win more trophies for the club".

"In the meantime, I'll be selling some excellent players to help other teams, while reducing the number of players on the AA squad to help its new manager compete immediately".

Will Edwin return to the club he once controlled?

"That would perhaps be the best scenario, but it's up to others to convince him.  Otherwise, I'm sure that Peter will be keen to vet all interested parties to make sure that the best man gets the job.  I'm keen to be a part of that process too.

Fossey is set to leave SAEFL with a number of special press articles, providing a deeper insight into his time not just with AA, but with OC and the SAEFL community.  His last article will be on the future challenges for SAEFL.

Very frustrating... We really thought we could close the gap to TB and have a shot at the title... FI has now 4 losses in the league and the title is unreachable. AM Flannery red card in week 4 was responsible for a disappointing loss to NW and now he repeats his mistake to deliver the game to AA. What should a manager do with these magical players that simply lose their minds sometimes?

TB has had an awesome season and can celebrate now. But if they drink a little too much and take two wrong steps, we will do our best to be a shadow behind...

On a last note, we are cutting WH Jackson, 112 club games, 80 goals scored and for a long period a NSL 10 player with a triple 5 stats. A symbol for a FI that must reborn next season!

InterQuartile Rangers

Hmm, let's see.  Was I lucky last week?  The total EMP was essentially the same.  So that's consistent with a 3 goal game that could go either way.

The keepers had identical EMP!!  But my Keller saved 3 more shots.

However, one of my goals was a PK, so that alone could have given me the advantage in an even game.  But if you look at my Offensive EMP versus his Defensive EMP there is a significant difference.  The O-D ratio was definitively in my favor.  So it was not luck that decided this game.

Actually, if you look at the differences in the ratios I probably should have had slightly more than a 3 point lead.

But I have never complained about a losing a close game.  I'm tired of having a 20+ point EMP advantage, and losing.  I can even accept that happening once a season (across the entire division).  But 3 times in one season, to one team?  Especially when 2 of them happened in the cup games?

Anyway, we're in 3rd place in a pointless season.  I can't even decide if a match is worth a grudge.  When I won the cup I miscalculated that season and had a grudge left over.  Maybe I'll set a record and not use any grudges?  Probably not.  I'm writing this press well in advance of my orders so I may change my mind for this game.  Why is it pointless?  I'm out of the cup.  It would take a couple of miracles for me to finish first in the division.  I'd have to lose every remaining game and the Greats would have to win every remaining game for me to be in danger of relegation.  So.....

I figure FI is only one place away so a grudge is warranted.  With no definite plans everything is up in the air.  So what does it matter?

Well, last week if we had not decided to rest our players, we most likely would have won the game (what, like our second this season?), but alas, we did not and so we lost again.  Actually, even if we had not gotten that red card, we might have won the game.  But its really not that big of a deal since we are destined for Division 2 at the end of this season, but winning a game here or there would be nice.  We do still have the cup though, and that is our priority, so we'll do what we can with that.  This week we play TB, obviously the leader of Division 1, and, again obviously, quite good.  With that being said, we are resting players again because the truth is that even if we played our top 11 with a grudge, we would still lose, so why even bother?  So we have accepted our fate (hopefully the score won't be too, too bad), and we will wait for the coming weeks.

The Boelewieten

Shocked bij AA press last week. Almost RL, team is not performing enough, club sacks manager. So Nathan, what without an angstgegner in SAEFL? Well, spoiled TB press, time for silence.

The Selects managed to pull off a huge result last week in keeping the Division Leaders to a scoreless draw. Fantastic!!

This week, we are playing the ever tricky VA and we expect them to play WP, so we will counter with our own tricky OFF. Let's hope it works.

Also, the Selects are back to their trading ways and like the Toronto Maple Leafs, don't seem to have any luck in the transfer market.
