PRESS REPORT

Adirondak Renegades

. Adirondak Press (AP): Good start to the Cup for AR.

Manager Fulmer (MF): I 'm very pleased with it. We didn't play all of our top 11, but we played several of them, and had a very competitive match against AS.  I feel good about our chances of making it to the second round. It looks like BS and DT are not trying to advance, but that could change after the first round results.

AP: What did you think of the first round?

MF: I lot of teams are focusing on the league, so there are not a lot of teams going for the Cup. However, there are some very good ones so there will be some tough competition.

AP: And the good ones are?

MF: TH amd IQ, certainly no surprises there. They both have very strong sides and an excellent history in the Cup. FI is also usually a top Cup conterder. I'm not sure if Marco is focusing on the league, (where he definitely has a chance unless his luck stays lousy), or knows he can rest a lot of people and still make it to the second round. TB showed a pretty strong line-up, so it will be interesting to see how important the Cup is to Jeroen.

AP: What about second and third division teams?

MF: Yes, there are a few that could make this years Cup a lot of fun. AV, AP, FE and OC all look promising. AV played 101 nsl. I'm impressed! I feel sorry for FU and ES. They are good enough to make it through, but they are in a very tough group where all 4 teams are trying to advance. It would be fun to see one of them stick it out and advance.

AP: What about defending SAEFL champ JG?

MF: I'm not sure what Bart was drinking when he wrote the Cup orders, but that was a very strange set. He wants to advance, but JG is in a rebuilding mode and I don't think they have the strength or depth to go very far and avoid relegation. After saying that, I hope I don't met Bart in the second round.

AP: How about the league?

MF A critical match this week against IQ. TB is still my favorite for the title, but IQ is not far behind. We are at home, so I am looking for a close match.

We've had very though weeks so far... Red cards, unlucky GK performances and so... hopefully, this will stop one day and I expect to be today. If everything goes as planned (which has not been the case so far) we should shut down NW attack and still manage to get 5 shots on goal... one should go in, at least... But that's all theory! ;)

InterQuartile Rangers

Well, the cup is off to a good start.  We have a decent side this week for Don.  Not quite our best, but hopefully good enough.  We want to introduce

2 new players GK M.Hahnemann and FB O. Onyewu.  Both are fresh from the draft.  We expect Hanemann to make an immediate contribution while Onyewu should make his mark in the near future.

Don and I used to be evenly matched.  Part of it will be a matter of who is saving players for the cup.  2 cup games in 3 weeks can really mess up resting players.  It's also hard to do both this early in the season.

It was a cup week so there are no stats for Div 1.

Last week, we won but since it was a cup week, it does not really help us in the standings for the Division.  Now, we are in a good spot for the cup but still in a little trouble with the regular season, as we are in tenth place.  We are making a trade this week to get another CF - this time a freak, so our offense will be deeper and better.  We are giving up a good, young defender and some money in return.  Hopefully, this will help us win some more this season and help keep us in Division 1 for next season.  We play TH this week, who are really good, so there is only a small chance that we are going to walk away with any points, much less the full three.

Though they are only one point above us in the standings.  Either way,  we are going to try our best and see what happens.

The Boelewieten

Not to trust, a drunk, working for the goverment, lets face it people, JG manager cant be trust. Or in other words; the 'angstgegner' for The Boelewieten. And in plain English, we lost a few games from JG du to the skills of that manager.

Van Poppel had the time to think about the tactic that he must use for a win in this homegame. And I know, thinking and Van Poppel, the best way to ensure a loss. Shut up you all, here is the plan; 104 NSL, leaving the bad guys out of the team, playing CP, buying a box of candles and, as a good catholic, asking our priest for a good old Roman blessing.

And Bart, well, with his skills he must already be on his way to the vatican, next week smiling on the balcony and standing besides the pope, smiling, the prick!

The Jazz Greats

After a very good first three weeks we will lose our first match this week. We play powerhouse TB and as much as i like to annoy him i just can't field a team that has any chance at hurting him.

So this week and the next will be used at testing newbies and resting the top 11 players so we can continue to grab as many points as possible in the league to ensure we don't relegate.

Apocalypse

The Cup Game last week showed new boss Les some fantastic attacking, stylish play against Otto's Deo Volente - the sides had met the previous week in the League and had shared the spoils. It was therefore very pleasing to walkaway with a fine 9-5 victory in the Cup - although we didn't mind the praise going to previous boss Craig in the official match report.

This week see's us, currently 3rd top, play 3rd bottom Grammar United. Our scouting reports show that Mike has a well drilled, mean defensive side and it won't be an easy game. After saying that we expect to create enough chances in this game to ensure we keep in touch with Len's promotion favourites.

SH is definitely not taking NH for granted in their upcoming match.

Manager Lear feels,"NH is a definite early season test for the SH squad.

NH can come at you from all angles. They really aren't a totally wide open attacking squad but NH can play all parts of the pitch equally as well."

"SH is going to have to come at NH with all guns blazing away.

Despite our flop in our first cup match, I feel SH has started to build a good deal of momentum in their league matches and we want to keep this going. Also we want to take advantage of the opposition with our totally rested lineup and our solid week of training."

SH was pleased to obtain L. Valasquez a solid veteran DM who hails from  Spain. Lear said,"By getting Valasquez, we have added some depth to the middle part of our lineup and it gives us a little more time in allowing our outstanding Midfield Youth prospects to develop before they are added to the starting 11."

SH is still looking to make a couple of player deals. We are willing to deal GK prospect P. Musselwhite 8.00  24 - rising and a couple of our other outstanding youth prospects to obtain a 10.00 GK. less than the age of 31. SH can add cash to any deal. let's deal.

Well the Selects had a little bit of bad luck in the first leg of the Cup.

Looks like they will have to pull up their socks in the final two games of the round robin. They let in both shots taken on net, so hopefully this will change this week.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

AS look like a very tough team to break down when they play ZD so I'm going to go into our home game against them with a boost in order to give me an additional edge. I hope it pays off as this is a game I want to win.
