PRESS REPORT

Adirondak Renegades

. Adsirondak Press (AP): You made it to the next round of the Cup.

Manager Fulmer (MF): Yes, although it was a lot more work than I had hoped. I went with a strong line-up in Match 3 instead of resting people, so we did accomplish our objective. However, we will pay for it this week as I am resting several key players against AA. The match could be ugly.

AP: The league results have been ugly this season, as AR is currently in a relagation position, so why should this match be any different?

MF: I can see we are going to have fun in these interviews this season.

AP: Of course, but if you win a lot of matches there won't be much for me to give you a hard time about.

MF: I do expect to win quite a few matches this season, although we haven't shown that form yet. Our luck hasn't been very good, and the manager made one big mistake in orders that cost AR 2 league points, so I think we are better that our current standing.

AP: Are you worried about relegation?

MF: No, at least not in week 9. We can put out a strong top 11, 100+, and have good depth, so I think we will be fine. However, I don't expect any points this week so we have dug ourselves a bit of a hole. I guess that makes it more of a challenge. Plus, we are moving on in the Cup which will test out depth.

Last week FI managed to move on in the cup with a nice win, while managing to rest important players. It's time now to face CA, a powerful team. In the absence of red cards and grudges/boost, we think we hold a fair chance in the game. The 11 starters this week probably are one of the best FI teams to be fielded ever... let's hope this translates into results!

InterQuartile Rangers

Things finished well in the first round of the cup.  Now to see what's going to happen in the league.  I'm more curious about the draw for the next cup round.  I hope I get a break and don't draw someone serious about the cup.  I'd hate to play the final that early again.  Which is what happened last year.  Well, I'm looking forward to aging.  We just have a bunch of serious games to get there.

It was a cup week so no stats for Div 1.

Port of Napier AFC

Well, we actually won a game.  We seem to be having much better luck in the cup

this season.  With that being said, we are playing DL, who are at the top of the

table in Division 1, while we are all the way down on the bottom.  So, even if

we played our absolute top team, we would still probably lose, so we are taking

the oppurtunity to rest some players this week.  Basically, it will be a big

surprise if we manage to win, or even tie, this week and we are counting on

losing, so whatever happens, happens, and hopefully something good will come out

of this season, even if we have to wait for midseason aging to occur.

The Boelewieten

Playing against TH is always difficult. We play this week in the InterQuartile Stadium, so lets see how TB's zone defence can damage Mark's pride and glory.

The Jazz Greats

This is actually a vey important match for me. LU seems to be one of

the teams i must leave behind if i want to avoid relegation. And since

i'm still trying to trade youth for older better players my team will

get worse in the weeks to come. All this means i need to get at least

one point out of this match. And LU showed some real skill in week 7

so i'm not sure if i will get it! But i'm not going to waste a grudge on it.

That's too expensive to use on anything but a chance to get three points.

And that's never going to happen in this match :)

As for trading, JG are still looking for young talented CB's and CF's

and we still have some good trading material. Contact us!

Excelsior Warren

From The Excelsior Herald

Another year; another disgraceful exit from the cup. After two wins in the first two games the faithful could have been forgiven for anticipating a cup run. But alas, the first team quite literally failed to turn up for the game against The Boelewieten. Amid rumours that club captain Tito had taken his inner circle on a Balkan tour, a team of reserves and kids lined up against the first division powerhouse and were duly steamrollered. The resulting cataclysmic effect on goal difference saw Excelsior dumped out again.

Sources close to the club have suggested that an internal investigation is underway, but others rumours have surfaced which hint that manager Bracegirdle failed to mail his team sheet to the normal starting eleven and as it was a cup game they assumed they had been given the week off. If this line of enquiry proves fruitful the finger of suspicion and sword of eternal justice just might start to point towards the manager's door and questions would once again be asked about the competence of a man who seems destined to be foreever adrift in the obscure reaches of division 2 mid table.

Last week we were surprised by SS in the cup. The Speedsters were no longer fighting for a spot on the next stage so we supposed they would drop the game. We couldn't be any more wrong, since even a boost were played. This week it's time for SG to play a boost, in a very close game against NH.

Let's check how the team performs!

African Selection

The Selects exited the Cup competition in style with a 3 - 0 victory over the Defrosted Tunafish from Div 2. The Selects finished 3rd in the group, but more importantly earned their 4th clean sheet of the season and they lead the league (ALL divisions) in GA with 12 in all competitions.

This week, we are hosting EU and we hope to be able to continue our winning ways.
